With federal funding from President Obama, Mayor Finch was able to hire 25 new police officers, add new police precincts and build additional substations, all of which helps to improve response time and build trust between police officers and the community they serve.

Mayor Finch works closely with Police Chief Joseph Gaudette and Fire Chief Brian Rooney to ensure that Bridgeport maintains its status as one of the safest big cities in New England.

Mayor Finch in conjunction with Police Chief Joseph Gaudette organized Take Back the Neighborhood walks throughout Bridgeport to show solidarity with local residents on combating violent crimes. This has led to an increase in Neighborhood Block Watches around the city.
